Therapy is a broad term. According to Google, it is a “treatment intended to relieve or heal a disorder”. But today, most people consider therapy a way to unwind and help our problems disappear. And there are tons of different treatments that can help you do that, including wearable therapy. We believe wearable therapy is one of the best ways you can cope with the ups and downs of life.
So, what is wearable therapy? Wearable therapy is a type of therapy where you speak up about the issues that mean something to you through your wardrobe. It’s a way for you to speak up without actually speaking; you do it through your clothing. It’s a way for you to shout about the things that bother you, instead of keeping your emotions bottled up and waiting to explode. Wear your emotions on your sleeve- literally. Wear an item of clothing that gets people talking about something you care about.
Still confused? Let’s say you’re tired of that nagging little voice in the back of your head that keeps telling you to do bad things, to make bad decisions. Wear a shirt that addresses your problem, like our Dark Angel tee. The design reminds people of that evil voice lurking within. It also helps you feel better, in that you’re screaming (silently) that you are aware of that voice and you won’t allow it to win.
Or, say you just want to bring people a little more joy in their lives. Wear our Choose Happiness tee, and remind everyone around you that they can choose to be happy, no matter what is going on in their lives. It spreads a little joy to the world, and knowing that you’re bringing someone else happiness is certainly a little bit of therapy.
As a society, we’re silent. We stay quiet about so many things, not wanting to be judged by others for our opinions. Some people are ridiculed for suffering from mental illness, and others are shamed for their addictions. What people really need is an opportunity to stop suffering in silence. They need a way to talk about issues that too often get swept under the rug. And that’s what wearable therapy is about- bringing those issues front and center.
Wearable therapy won’t cure you of a mental illness or be a life-changing ordeal. But it will make you feel better, and it might just change the world. So, instead of suffering in silence, try a little wearable therapy.
